Vision of a facade

With the site at Newtown being Heritage listed it was gonna be difficult in designing a facade for the art gallery. I opted in keeping the original facade of the building in trying to keep the street scape, then i decided in demolishing the facade and recessing the building 10 or so meters in order to hide the new facade from the street scape. The following pictures show how i resolved the front facade of the new building.

When walking along the street to site one on Kings Street the recessed buildings facade is not visible and in doing so the street scape is not affected in a negative way. The facade of the new building is now only visible when the public is directly in front of the building(shown below)

The side of the cinema (on the left) can be used as a sort of canvas, which can have artist paint or even incorporate graffiti which is found all around Newtown. The graffiti is part of the Newtown coulture, so in trying to incorporate the graffiti into the site its trying to incorporate the Newtown graffiti culture into the artgallery.

The main principle behind the idea of recessing the building in keeping the scheme in the street scape.
